Pendulum Drift - the film project came about after studying for and completing a Master of Arts at Screen Academy Scotland 2009.
I was eager to put some of the knowledge I had gained and put it straight into practice. The dissertation I had researched and written up had me asking more questions - which I wanted to explore further by 'doing' rather than more academic research at the time.
The dissertation had looked at the processes of some of film's most courageous innovators such as Mike Leigh and John Cassavetes for example. I wanted to delve deeper into their methods of developing and producing film projects and more importantly understand how these particular filmmakers kept their integrity as artists.
I therefore developed a film project, 'Pendulum Drift', a feature length drama to try out my own ideas and methods which I had researched and developed at Screen Academy Scotland.
As a creative artist, understanding boundaries is important, but breaking through them is the whole point and the ultimate goal.
Pendulum Drift presents many unique challenges in the months ahead and will be pushing through all the boundaries faced.
